Since 1998, that is, in the last 25 years, no political party has retained power in Rajasthan. Also, since then, the state has seen only two chief ministers — Ashok Gehlot from the Congress and Vasundhara Raje from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). These two held the post alternatively.
So who is winning this time?

A Huge Voters Turnout

Rajasthan recorded ___% voting till 6 pm today in its single phase polling across the state, putting the incumbent Gehlot’s Congress government against a resurgent BJP and a plethora of smaller parties and independent candidates who often find favour with voters in the state.

An electorate of 5.26 crore voters, with 200 constituencies in 53 districts, and 1,875 candidates faced off during the polls.

Key Challenges for the next government in the state

Paper leak/unemployment

Communalism

Women’s safety/law and order

More Welfare schemes

Water Scarcity

Who has promised what?

Congress

The party said that it has delivered 96% of the promises made in the 2018 manifesto and announced several other schemes in their new manifesto including, a ₹5,000,000 health cover, a law to guarantee complete school education, creating 1,000,000 employment opportunities, a caste survey across the state, and others.

BJP

The BJP has promised a subsidy of ₹450 per LPG cylinder for Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries and 2.5 lakh government jobs along with others including an SIT to probe paper leaks and other alleged scams, ‘mahila thana’ and ‘mahila desk’ in every police station, a savings bond of ₹2 lakh on birth of girl child, and many more.

2018 figures

In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won 99 seats, while the BJP won 73 seats in the 200-member House. Gehlot eventually took the oath as CM with the support of BSP MLAs and Independents.

Today199 was contested as the elections in the Karanpur assembly constituency were adjourned after the Congress candidate from Karanpur, Gurmeet Singh Koonar, passed away due to sepsis. Koonar was the sitting MLA from Karanpur.
